4 championships and 5 race wins for Premier Karting drivers: SLMP and season report
With three championships in the books before arriving to Morristown NY,two champiosnhips were going down to the wire in Jr Light and Senior Heavy. Saint Lawrence Motorsport Park would also be the graduation of Max Landry, 2010 Junior Heavy Champion, to the senior ranks and a return to racing for Dave Laplante for the first time since racing his way to a pair of top 10 finishes at Shannonville motorsport park.
Jr Light driver Nick Saunders put on a very stong performance. With an outside chance at claiming the championship he would have to be perfect with the fate of the championship resting on were his title contender would finish. After narrowly missing out on the pole position Nick would go flag to flag in the prefinal and would go on to dominate the final winning with nearly a 6 sec. margin. The result would make Nick Vice Champion as his main title contender would finish second. A great achievement for the 2008 Novice Champion in his first season as a Junior.
Senior Heavy driver Sylvain Coulomb would come into the contest with the championship lead and would go on to claim the championship with a stellar drive in the final. Getting shuffled back at the start of the race, Sylvain set out after the lead pair to finally real them in with a handfull of laps to go. He would claim the victory setting a blistering lap of 59.144 setting a new SLMP track record in the process.
Senior Light was a close battle between 2010 Class Champion Brian Saunders, Dave Laplante and Max Landry. With all three qualifying within .004 of a second of each other the stage was set for a good showdown. In the prefinal it was Dave Laplante who took the lead with a lap to go putting him on pole for the final. The final was a great race to be a spectator with several lead changes it would be Brian getting the better of Dave with a last lap move in the final chicane taking the victory by .027. Max would narrowly miss the podium with a strong 4th place finish in his senior debut.
Having already clinched the championship, Brian Saunders would go on to sweep the Rotax Senior class finishing his racing season in style. Yvan Desy would take second place.
Doing double duty, Nick Saunders would go on and win his first Mini Max race in his first race taking the fifth win of the day for Premier Karting drivers.
At this time we would like to thank and congradulate all our customers for all their hard work and for a fatastic season.
